The Solar Energy Materials and Systems Group (SEMS) announce a postdoctoral position in the frame of the SEMS 19-01 Project, in the research line of:

Functionalized TCO based electrodes for transparent back contacts in chalcogenide thin film solar cells contacts

The candidate will carry out a multidisciplinary scientific activity centered in the adaptation and demonstration of PVD processes for the development of functionalized TCO based electrodes suitable for their implementation as transparent back contacts in advanced chalcogenide solar cells. This will include the design and demonstration of suitable TCO based contact configurations for optimization of device efficiency in chalcogenide based solar cell devices. These will be based on the implementation of nanometric transition metal oxide layers at the back contact/absorber interface using evaporation based techniques (thermal evaporation, e-beam).

The candidate will work in the frame of the SEMS 19-01 project for the demonstration of the feasibility of sputtering and evaporation processes applied to the development of innovative transparent back contact configurations compatible with bifacial, tandem and semitransparent chalcogenide device concepts. This will also include a 1 month stay at as collaborative European laboratory abroad.

Requisites: the candidates need to be in position of the doctoral degree in Physic, Chemistry, Electronic Engineering, Materials Engineering or equivalent, before the incorporation date. Previous experience in PVD processes as e-beam evaporation on transparent conductive oxides (as those related to ZnO) and transition metal oxides for advanced electronic and optoelectronic devices will be very well evaluated.
