Energy Efficiency: Systems, Buildings and Communities (ECOS) Area announces a position as Junior Researcher (R1). The candidate will work on a research project in the framework of the RIS3CAT Energy Community called New automation technologies for the Electrical Network. The candidate will work in the fields of optimal location of monitoring devices in the medium voltage network, state estimation and storage devices integration on the smart grids. The tasks to be carried out will be mainly focused on the design, development and implementation of a set of tools in order to analyze different hypothesis on the electrical network.

The candidate is expected to complete the doctoral thesis on a topic related to the scientific work within three years and to publish high-level articles.

This professional must be highly skilled in smart grids and algorithms implementation. Capacity to work in a team, flexible, innovative, with initiative and problem solving skills would be valuable. High level of analytical and synthesis skills would be beneficial.

Qualifications and experience required:

- Master in electrical engineering, mathematics, operation research or equivalent.

- Skills are required for the following:
o Energy sector
o Renewable energy sources
o Optimization algorithms
o Electrical networks
o Analytics
o Mathematical modeling

Advantageous: knowledge and experience with software as Matlab, DigSilent PowerFactory or GAMS .

Language required:
- Fluent in Catalan and Spanish.
- Good communications skills in English

- Results-oriented.
- Analytical and synthesis capabilities.

Salaries will be paid in accordance with the IREC’s salary policy, depending on the candidate’s qualification and professional experience.
