IREC participates as an expert representing Spain in a project on zero energy buildings conducted by the International Energy Agency

The project will be led by Dr. Jaume Salon, group leader in thermal energy and building at IREC and one of the leading experts in Spain in the field of energy efficiency

Tuesday, June 1, 2010 – The Catalan Institute for Energy Research (IREC) is participating as a national expert representing Spain in the project "Towards Net Zero Energy Solar Buildings" promoted by the International Energy Agency (IEA).

The Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC) adds four new members to its board

Fundació Repsol, Enagás, Compañía Logística de Hidrocarburos (CLH) and Alstom Wind join the board’s current ten members. The signing ceremony to add the new members to the board was presided over by the regional minister of Economy and Finances, Antoni Castells.

Friday, May 21, 2010 - The Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC) has added the companies Fundació Repsol, Enagás, Compañía Logística de Hidrocarburos (CLH) and Alstom Wind to its board in a ceremony presided over by the regional minister of Economy and Finances, Antoni Castells.

Regional Minister Castells Meets with Businesses Involved in the Zèfir Project


Reinvigorating the Testing Platform for Offshore Wind Energy

 Today, the Regional Minister of Economy and Finances, Antoni Castells, met with the Director of the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), Antoni Martínez, and the businesses that have pledged their support and participation in promoting the offshore wind energy testing platform known as Zèfir.

Castells, head of energy policy for the Government of Catalonia, wanted to learn firsthand about the state of the project and to give it his support. The meeting was joined by representatives from Iberdrola, Endesa, Alstom Wind, Acciona, FCC, Prysmian, EDP Renovables, Gas Natural Fenosa, Gamesa, Repower España, Siemens and Comsa Emte.

El projecte ZÈFIR, d’energia eòlica marina, suposarà una inversió de 143 milions d’euros i situarà Catalunya al capdavant del desenvolupament d’aerogeneradors en aigües profundes

Projecte Zèfir
El conseller d’Innovació, Universitats i Empresa, Josep Huguet, ha presentat avui a Tortosa el projecte ZÈFIR. La planta de proves internacional suposa un gran oportunitat única per Catalunya per situar-se líder en el desenvolupament tecnològic d’aerogeneradors en aigües profundes, en  parcs eòlics lluny de la costa.

A més a més de l’impacte en recerca i desenvolupament de tecnologia que té el projecte, la construcció de ZÈFIR representarà una bona oportunitat per iniciar el desplegament industrial d’una nova activitat econòmica en el territori. La inversió aproximada d’aquest projecte és de 143 milions d’euros. S’estima que la primera fase de ZÈFIR podria tenir aerogeneradors en funcionament l’any 2012.
