Scientists from the Nanoionics Group at IREC report on new advances in layered cathodes for Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

Journal of Materials ChemistryAlbert Tarancón from the Nanoionics Group at IREC and colleagues from CIN2-CSIC and Imperial College London have reported on recent advances on layered oxide cathodes for Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (IT-SOFCs). The paper has been highlighted as “Feature Article” on the cover page of the “Journal of Materials Chemistry”.

Boosting the Zèfir Test Station Offshore Wind Energy Project

IREC consolidates progress on the project by signing an agreement with Alstom, Enel Green Power España, Gas Natural Fenosa, Acciona, Comsa Emte, EDP, FCC, Gamesa, Iberdrola, Prysmian and Siemens to develop and carry out the project.
 
Thursday, 29 July 2010 – IREC, the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research, has signed a framework collaboration agreement with the companies Alstom, Enel Green Power España, Gas Natural Fenosa, Acciona, Comsa Emte, EDP Renovables, FCC, Gamesa, Iberdrola Renovables, Prysmian and Siemens, for the development and installation of an international R&D station for testing offshore wind energy equipment and technology. The testing platform will be called the ZÈFIR Test Station.

On the role of individual metal oxide nanowires in the scaling down of chemical sensors”, has been recognised as one of the 11 Spanish articles accepted by the journal Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP) that were most cited in 2009

PCPPThe article “On the role of individual metal oxide nanowires in the scaling down of chemical sensors”, co-authored by Dr Francisco Hernández and professor Joan Ramon Morante, has been recognised as one of the 11 Spanish articles accepted by the journal Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP) that were most cited in 2009. It will therefore be freely available in July 2010.

The PCCP is a prestigious international journal published by the Royal Society of Chemistry that currently has an impact factor of 4,114, thus placing it third in the field of atomic, molecular and chemical physics on the JCR (Journal Citation Report) index.

The article “Synthesis and Applications of One-dimensional Semiconductors” has been one of the 25 most-visited articles in the magazine Progress in Materials Science during the first quarter of 2010.

L’article “Synthesis and applications of one-dimensional semiconductors” és un dels 25 més visitats en la revista “Progress in Materials Science” al llarg del primer trimestre del 2010.

Dr. Francisco Hernandez, Researcher of the Advanced Materials for Energy Area at IREC, participated on the publication, which is a review on the state of the art in the synthesis and applications of one-dimensional semiconductors.Progress in Materials Science is one of the most prestigious journals in materials science and it is the third most-cited journal in this field, according to the index of the JCR, Journal Citation Reports.
