IREC in the first European Energy Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC)

The Governing Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) met on 16 December in Budapest to designate the first Knowledge Innovation Community (KICs) in sustainable energy. This aknolodgement to exellency has been conceded to InnoEnergy, amongst eight europeen groups. The proposal InnoEnergy is teamed up by 35 eurpean entities; IREC, UPC and ESADE are some of the members of the group in Barcelona.

The workshop “Renewable Energy: Production and Storage” to close a conference programme organized by Xarmae

The Head of technology and research in Advanced Materials for Applications in Energy, Dr. Joan Ramón Morante, directs the organization of a seminar designed to lend an overview of production and storage of renewable energy and a bridge between research groups and the industry to search for future synergies. The seminar is organized by and receives the support of the Reference Network on Advanced Energy Materials (Xarxa de Referència en Materials Avançats per a l’Energia – XARMAE) and the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC).

Minister Castells Presents the Tarragona Branch of the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research

On Monday the 16th, the Catalan Government’s Secretary of Economy and Finance, Antoni Castells, also Chairman of the Board of the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), along with Francesc Xavier Grau, Rector of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) and Antoni Martínez, Director of IREC, presented IREC’s premises on the Sescelades Campus in Tarragona. IREC is a research center focusing primarily on energy efficiency and conservation as well as on renewable energy and carrying out fundamental market-oriented research. Participants include institutions, university scholars and researchers and the private sector.
