Junior Researcher/Engineer for IREC’s Smart Grids laboratory:

Power Systems group announces a position as Junior Researcher/Engineer (R1) for the IREC Smart Grid laboratory. The candidate will work on technical research projects in the fields of microgrids, smart grids and renewable energy integration at the Power Systems Group of IREC. The tasks to be carried out will include both simulation and experimental activity within the IREC’s Energy SmartLab.

These activities require knowledge and high interests on smart grids, renewables, energy storage, electric mobility and grid integration. Knowledge on design and implementation of automation and controls systems, communications, micro grids components, electrical equipment and power systems may be beneficial.  The position requires a candidate with high interest and capacity to work on laboratory experimental facilities. The professional is expected to actively participate in current and new research projects (competitive and industrial) within the group.

Qualifications and experience required:

- Bachelor or Master in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or energy engineering. (Students of Master may be considered)

- Skills on several of the following fields are required:
o Energy sector and electrical networks
o Renewable energy sources
o Modelling and analytics
o Control Board programming and laboratory work

The knowledge and experience with software as Matlab, DigSilent PowerFactory or PSSE is a surplus.

Language required:
- Good communications skills in English are mandatory.
- Knowledge of Spanish and/or Catalan will be beneficial.

- Analytical and synthesis capabilities.

Salaries will be paid in accordance with the IREC’s salary policy, depending on the candidate’s qualification and professional experience.
