Resolution Position date January 16th 2018

Proposal for the Assignement of Temporary Researcher Position in Microfabrication Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

Publish date December 11th 2017
Nº Ref. 36/2017

Description: The Nanoionics and Fuel Cells Group is seeking a researcher to work on a European Project (ERC Consolidator Grant) devoted to the development of breakthrough concepts for micro-Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (uSOFC). We are interested in a researcher highly motivated to develop the integration of micro-SOFC into microelectronic technology, the silicon technology commonly used to fabricate MEMS devices. She/he will get experience in hands on microfabrication using mainstream microelectronics, as well as a deep knowledge on solid oxide fuel cells. The project will be carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC).
His/her main task will be the design and microfabrication of the elements that form the micro-Solid Oxide Fuel Cell based power generator on silicon substrates. He/she will also work on the stacking of the mentioned elements. The researcher will report weekly his/her progress in front of the work group.

Requirements: Bachelor and/or master of Material science / Chemistry / Physics / Engineering / Microelectronics or similar is required. The candidate should have some experience on micro/nanofabrication at the cleanroom environment. In addition, she/he must be highly motivated to learn, work in a team, high flexibility and initiative and ability to innovate.
Fluent English is mandatory.
We offer: Six months contract starting mid-January (exact date is flexible). Joining a team of highly qualified and motivated researchers working in the frontiers of knowledge in science and technology.
Salary will be paid in accordance with the IREC’s salary policy, depending on the candidate’s qualification and professional experience.

Workplace: IREC (Catalonia Institute for Energy Research), Barcelona. Once or twice per week the candidate will visit the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM; CSIC), where the microfabrication cleanroom is located.
