The Cell3ditor project wins the innovation prize from the FCH JU AWARDS 2018

Cell3ditor project, led by the group of the ICREA Prof. Albert Tarancón at IREC, wins the innovation prize from the FCH JU AWARDS 2018. Congratulations!

The ambitious goal of the Cell3editor project is to develop ‘tabletop factories’, in the form of 3D printers which can make monolithic solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) stacks with embedded functionality. This is a great opportunity to achieve product flexibility, simple design for manufacturing and slash the time-to-market, waste material and manufacturing steps (shaping and thermal treatments). In addition, lowering initial investment by an order of magnitude will open the SOFC market to new players that will boost the supply chain and generate new high-skill jobs.

The Cell3Ditor project is coordinated by the Fundació Institut de Recerca de Energia de Catalunya (IREC). It has the support of the Joint Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Company of the European Commission, an entity that has the objective of contributing to research activities such as this, thus accelerating the entry into the market of this type of technological creations. The project consortium is formed by companies and research institutions from 6 different EU countries: 3DCERAM (FR), Promethean Particles (UK), FAE (ES), SAAN Energy (SE), HyGEAR (NL), DTU (DK), ULL (ES).
