Junior Researcher/Engineer in the field of Smart Grids:

Energy Efficiency: Systems, Buildings and Communities (ECOS) Area announces a position as Junior Researcher/Engineer (R1). The candidate will work on technical research projects in the fields of microgrids, smart grids and renewable energy integration at the Power Systems Group of IREC. The tasks to be carried out will include both simulation and experimental activity within the IREC’s Energy SmartLab.

These activities require knowledge of renewables, energy storage, electric mobility and grid integration. Knowledge on design and implementation of automation and controls systems, communications, micro grids components, electrical equipment and power systems may be beneficial.  The professional is expected to actively participate in current and new research projects (competitive and industrial) within the group.

This professional must be highly skilled in electrical networks, smart grids and modelling. Capacity to work in a team, flexible, innovative, with initiative and problem solving skills would be valuable. High level of analytical and synthesis skills would be beneficial.

Qualifications and experience required:
- Bachelor or Master in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or energy engineering. (Students of Master’s may be considered)

- Skills are required for the following:
o Energy sector
o Renewable energy sources
o Electrical networks
o Analytics
o Modelling

The knowledge and experience with software as Matlab, DigSilent PowerFactory or PSSE is a surplus.

Language required:
- Good communications skills in English are mandatory.
- Knowledge of Spanish and/or Catalan will be beneficial.

- Flexibility.
- Results-oriented.
- Analytical and synthesis capabilities.

Salaries will be paid in accordance with the IREC’s salary policy, depending on the candidate’s qualification and professional experience.
