Postdoctoral Researcher on Supercapacitor device assembly

The Energy Storage group announces a position as Postdoctoral Researcher (pre-consolidated R2) to work on the AutoGraph project devoted to the development and fabrication of a new storage system based on graphene and able to power up a fully autonomous device composed of a sensor(s) and a printed integrated circuit for Smart Buildings.

The selected candidate will be responsible of two activities:
 
1) Preparation and characterization of new materials based on functionalized graphene as electrode(s) for supercapacitors able to fulfil energy and power demands for the autonomous system.
2) Full-cell assembly and characterization using either coin or pouch-cell geometry and its integration into the autonomous system.

Requirements:

We are looking for excellent and highly motivated candidates with a PhD in Nanosciences or Materials Science with expertise on supercapacitors. The candidate should be able to prepare electrode materials based on graphene with optimized performance which will be combined with new electrolyte formulations to improve energy while preserving excellent time response. Experience on material formulation, electrode fabrication, cell assembly as well as physical and electrochemical characterization at both electrode and device level will be critical to the project. In addition, previous experience on electronics, electrical or power systems for device integration will be valued. It is expected that the candidate will be filling up a patent to protect the novelty developed during the project so experience on business innovation or related will be also advantageous during the selection process. The candidate should have good communication and project management skills and he/she must be fluent in English, results-oriented and a team player. 

What we offer:

- We offer a fixed-term contract linked to the duration of this project, with 6 months of trial period.
- Salaries will be paid in accordance with the IREC’s salary policy, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience.
