TITLE: R1 PhD candidate for BMS development for EV


The Power Systems Group announces a new opening as PhD to work on technical research projects in the fields of Electric Vehicles (EV), Battery Management Systems (BMS) and Power Converters in order to develop a PhD thesis in the field of BMS for EV to be developed within the framework of an H2020 EU funded project. The tasks to be carried out will be focused to the development of the control and communication board for a BMS of an EV. Additionally, experimental activities with power converters including design and implementation of experimental set ups with IREC’s lab facilities are expected.

Qualifications and experience required:
- Bachelor or Master in Industrial Electronics and Automatic Control, Electronics, Telecommunications engineering or similar.
- Experience with communications and automation systems.
- Experience with control boards design

Knowledge in electronics engineering or similar is required. Experience in modeling, control, design and operation of electronic components and systems, their applications with renewable energy, energy storage systems, electric mobility and grid integration are expected. Experience in communications, controls and industrial/laboratory SCADA systems will be valued. 

• Knowledge regarding industrial electronic systems
• Experience with control boards
• Design or operation of power converters
• Experience in electronics modeling and simulation software
• Programming experience is a plus

Language required:
Fluent in Spanish and English.

What we offer:
We offer 4 year-fellowship, with potential extension. Salaries will be paid in accordance with the IREC’s salary policy, depending on the candidate’s qualification and professional experience.
