Biography
Dr. Daniel Montané (Reus, 1962) graduated in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Barcelona in 1986, and received his PhD degree from the same University in 1992. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Sherbrooke (Québec, Canada) during 1993 with a grant from the Catalonian Regional Government. From September 1994 to August 1995 he worked as an associate researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Denver (CO, USA). In 1993 he also joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) as an associated professor, and obtained tenure in January of 1997. Since then he has taught several courses regarding the Engineering of Chemical Reactors, Reaction Kinetics, and Experimentation in Chemical Engineering, both in graduate and master programs. His research has focused on several technologies for the conversion of biomass and waste into energy and chemicals. He has co-authored 55 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and has supervised 9 PhD students. He joined IREC in September 2009 to act as the leader of the Thermo chemistry Conversion group.
