Biography
Sònia Abelló (Reus, 1977) studied Chemistry at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) where she obtained a master’s degree in 2000. After one year as an Associate Professor in the URV Physical and Inorganic Chemistry Department (2001), she began her doctoral studies in Chemical Engineering working with the Heterogeneous Catalysis group under the direction of Francesc Medina and Didier Tichit. She received a dual doctorate in 2005 from the Rovira i Virgili University and the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie of Montpellier (UM2) through their co-sponsored doctoral programme. At the end of that same year, she joined Prof. Javier Pérez-Ramírez's Heterogeneous Catalysis group at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) as a post-doctoral researcher (Torres Quevedo programme). In April 2010, she joined IREC as a Senior Researcher.
