He received the Degree in Engineering (Ingeniería Industrial) with focus on Electrotechnics from the Engineering School of Barcelona (ETSEIB), Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, in 2008. He completed his Final Thesis entitled “Study of the Impact of a Very Low Impedance Superconducting Cable on the Electrical Grid” with Special Distinction and was also awarded by “ENDESA Red” Chair of Energy Innovation (CERIEN-UPC) for his Final Thesis, in 2008. From 2006 to 2008 he was UPC scholar at the Centre for Technological Innovation in Static Converters and Drives (CITCEA-UPC). There, he participated in a project from “ENDESA Red” Chair of Energy Innovation (CERIEN-UPC) related to dynamic simulation of wind power generation impact on the Catalan electrical grid using PSS®E software. In 2009 and 2010 he worked for the private industry in TELECSAL and SOLVAY (Martorell site) as office engineer and electrical engineer contributing in projects dealing with electric cabinets supply to the industry and modernization of substations, respectively. In November 2010 he joined Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC) and is currently working there as project engineer in the Power Electronics and Electric Power Grids Area. The projects he is working in include building and commissioning electrical engineering labs that will impulse the implementation of research projects related to microgrids, electric vehicles and wind power generation. Gerard del-Rosario-Calaf has published one research article in a scientific journal and two articles in a popular technology journal.| 15/05/2012 Antoni Martínez, Director general de l'IREC, ha estat convidat a participar a “The European Economic Congress (EEC)” |
