IREC and FAE sign an agreement for the research and development of solid oxide fuel cells and electrolysers

faeBarcelona, January 2012.The Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC) and FAE, a company  leader in the production of electrical spare parts for motor vehicles, have signed a collaboration agreement to carry out research and development in projects on solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and electrolysers (SOECs) for the automotive sector.

This agreement will take advantage of the expertise in materials science and SOFCs of the researchers of the Nanoionics and Fuel Cells Group at IREC and the manufacturing capabilities and innovative capacity of FAE. Today 75% of FAE’s production is exported out of Spain, covering more than 80 countries, for supplying to customers like Nissan, Renault or Mercedes Benz.
