Albert Tarancón from the Nanoionics Group at IREC and colleagues from CIN2-CSIC and Imperial College London have reported on recent advances on layered oxide cathodes for Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (IT-SOFCs). The paper has been highlighted as “Feature Article” on the cover page of the “Journal of Materials Chemistry”.
The article “On the role of individual metal oxide nanowires in the scaling down of chemical sensors”, co-authored by Dr Francisco Hernández and professor Joan Ramon Morante, has been recognised as one of the 11 Spanish articles accepted by the journal Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP) that were most cited in 2009. It will therefore be freely available in July 2010.
The PCCP is a prestigious international journal published by the Royal Society of Chemistry that currently has an impact factor of 4,114, thus placing it third in the field of atomic, molecular and chemical physics on the JCR (Journal Citation Report) index.

Dr. Francisco Hernandez, Researcher of the Advanced Materials for Energy Area at IREC, participated on the publication, which is a review on the state of the art in the synthesis and applications of one-dimensional semiconductors.Progress in Materials Science is one of the most prestigious journals in materials science and it is the third most-cited journal in this field, according to the index of the JCR, Journal Citation Reports.
