Towards the development of machine learning process monitoring methodologies for industry

  • Energy and environment

The MALMO project starts on the 24th of March 2022, and stands for “New machine learning process monitoring methodologies based on spectroscopic techniques for inline inspection of thin film PV industrial manufacturing processes”. This project aims at developing and demonstrating in an industrial environment advanced statistical and machine learning process monitoring methodologies for their implementation in a XRF-Raman-photoluminescence characterization platform in an existing industrial Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar foil roll-to-roll manufacturing pilot line. The implementation of these methodologies will allow optimizing the fabrication process and can be extrapolated to other industrial applications.

IREC is pleased to host Dr. Ignacio Becerril-Romero as a Tecniospring Industry researcher. Ignacio holds an outgoing and return fellowship, starting his stay in the company Sunplugged GmbH (Austria), before returning to IREC in the Solar Energy Materials and Systems group. He will develop a professional career within the energy field and benefit from top training in technology transfer.

Tecniospring is ACCIÓ’s international talent programme, which boosts technology transfer processes by offering R&D companies and TECNIO centres 2-year employment contracts to host a researcher.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 801342 (Tecniospring INDUSTRY) and the Government of Catalonia’s Agency for Business Competitiveness (ACCIÓ).
