The Lighting Group at IREC, led by Dr. Josep Carreras, has recently published a study which proposes a new methodology and graphical index to evaluate sources of light, the Color Rendering Map or CRM, whose strength resides in considering the intended application of the light source, so that a detailed spectral optimization can be performed.
The article "The Color Rendering Map: A graphical metric for assessment of illumination" was recently published in the journal Optics Express, from the Optical Society of America (OSA), a journal located on the top of impact according to the ISI-Web of Knowledge in the field of Optics and Applied Physics.
The working sessions will be held on February 20 and 21 at the conference room of the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research.
Founded in 1921, CIGRE, the Council on Large Electric Systems, is an international non-profit Association for promoting collaboration with experts from all around the world by sharing knowledge and joining forces to improve electric power systems of today and tomorrow.
Dr. Francisco Hernández, a researcher with the IREC’s Advanced Materials for Energy Area, has developed humidity detectors in collaboration with researchers from the Jozef Stefan Institute in Slovenia. The detectors, which are made of barium oxide, have shown the potential for developing new devices based on ceramic nanomaterials. In addition to its practical applications, this system will enable us to make advances in our knowledge about phenomena involving electrical transport and interactions in nanoscale systems. The research has been published in the journal Nanotechnology and was featured as one of the journal’s highlights.
