IREC to organise the Symposium on Offshore wind technologies (OffWindTech) in the frame of the project KIC-Offwindtech. The aim of this project is to identify the main challenges and limitations in offshore, especially deep water offshore wind energy, and to seek and analyze viable alternatives in the field of power transmission, and offshore blades.

The Catalan Institute for Energy Research to co-organise the topic about “solar cells” in the frame of the Materials Challenges In Alternative & Renewable Energy 2014”congress
MCARE will take place from 16th to 20 February, 2014.
MCARE 2014 facilitates information sharing on the latest developments involving materials for alternative and renewable energy systems. Abstract submissions will open April 15, 2013.

Dr. Marcel Skoumal, researcher at the Energy Storage and Harvesting group at IREC, participated in the Energy Storage World Forum in Berlin, where he made a speech titled “Evaluating different current Flow Battery Technologies by Performance and Technological Maturity”. In this speech he presented different chemistries, engineering and design aspects as well as battery components being developed at IREC, and compared the most mature technologies, focusing on vanadium redox and zinc-bromine flow batteries.
