"Our centre’s main objective is to develop disruptive energy solutions and bring them to society"
Energy transition is at the core of what we do. We understand that we live in a fast-paced and ever changing world, in which the large-scale provision of sustainable, affordable and clean energy has never been more important.
To play our role as a national and international point of reference in energy transition, we carry out an intensive research programme which aims to stimulate the development of new technologies, and promote the transformation of existing energy models.
We have established scientific and technological priorities to address three “Grand Challenges” for a sustainable future: Energy and Environment, Smart Energy Management and Energy Storage.
The breadth of these challenges surpasses the traditional energy area, and therefore we anticipate that these concepts will be paramount to the future development of society. That’s why we are committed to boosting the translation of our research outputs into products and technologies that benefit industry and the public. Indeed, IREC’s main objective is to develop disruptive energy solutions and bring them to society.
We invite you to follow our scientific and technological progress and advancement in the field of energy!
