On November 8, 2019 Adedotun J. Agbemuko defended his thesis.

Dr. Adedotun J. Agbemuko successfully defended his PhD Thesis entitled “Modelling and Control Strategies for Hybrid AC/DC Grids” with the maximum qualification EXCELLENT “CUM LAUDE”.

Aiming at achieving 100% of renewables into the electrical system, we need to ensure that such system will be stable and secure to operate. This scenario leads to an immense penetration of power electronics (i.e. wind, PV, batteries, etc., need converters to be integrated) and a reduction of conventional generation, which may change the power systems dynamics. This thesis provides tools to evaluate the interaction, stability and security of the upcoming hybrid AC-DC systems; proposing control schemes adaptation to ensure global stability regardless the network, and operating points.

It’s worth noting that for part of his work, he received the “Istvan Erlich” Best Paper award from IFAC CPES 2018 conference.

Adedotun carried his research as Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher in the framework of the INCITE (“Innovative controls for renewable source integration into smart energy systems”) MSCA ITN.

Congratulations Adedotun, on successfully defending your PhD and becoming Dr. Adedotun J. Agbemuko!
