Four national R+D+i projects under the “retos de investigación” call start this autumn at IREC. The funding promotes R+D+i activities in order to increase the competitiveness and international leadership of Spanish science and technology. The granted projects are:

  • CERES- Electrocatalysis for the sustainable production of fuels and high added-value chemicals. Led by Prof. Joan Ramon Morante
  • MATER ONE- Novel low-dimensional chalcogenides materials for advanced integration in tandem and agrivoltaic aplications. Led by Victor Izquierdo
  • RETABIT-20- Multidimensional models and indicators to support residential building retrofitting programmes at municipal level. Led by Jaume Salom
  • 2DCATSxH2&CO2- 2D Carbides (MXenes)-based catalysts for H2 production and CO2 reduction processes. Led by Narcís Homs

The projects will last for 3 years, starting from 1st of September 2021. They will contribute to the State Program (“Programa Estatal de I+D+i Orientada a los Retos de la Sociedad”) main goals, which are to promote the search for ideas, knowledge and innovative technologies in its design, methodology or approach in order to accelerate the application of the results obtained and provide solutions to the problems and challenges of society.

These projects are financed by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (MICINN) through the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI).
