Four XRE4S technologies create a spin-off, one from IREC

  • Smart energy management

The Energy for Society Network (XRE4S), coordinated by IREC, has launched a press release on Monday the 19th of December 2022, highlighting that four of the technologies of their members are constituted as a spin-off to contribute to the energy transition. The technologies are a platform based on artificial intelligence algorithms for energy optimization, a software that reliably responds to errors in the electrical grid, electrodes for green hydrogen production and a transversal cooling solution for thermal management problems. The spin-offs are Bamboo Energy from IREC, Jolt from ICIQ, eRoots from CITCEA-UPC and UniScool from University of Lleida. Two more technologies (from ICN2 and University of Girona) are soon going to create a spin-off as well.

All these spin-offs are the result from the research efforts from investigators in Catalan institutes, which have received the combined support of initiatives such as the XRE4S, The Collider, or other entrepreneurship programs that have the objective of contacting researchers with companies or creating spin-offs.

The XRE4S has brought to market more than 50 technologies from 41 research groups from 14 Catalan universities and research centers, while the XRE4S programs offered support to the entire value chain and technology transfer, from the assessment in the protection of intellectual and industrial property to market studies, marketing strategies and research of potential licensees and investors.
