IREC is celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science today, February 7th, ahead of the official date on February 11th (Sunday). This marks the sixth year in a row that IREC has participated in the #100tífiques programme, reaffirming our unwavering dedication to inspiring young girls to explore careers in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Design, and Mathematics). The programme, a collaboration between the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the Fundació Catalana per la Recerca i la Innovació (FCRI), with support from the Departament d’Educació de la Generalitat de Catalunya, is designed to motivate the upcoming generation of scientists and engineers.
Aligned with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, #100tífiques aims to spotlight the role of women in science and innovation, showcasing their contributions to the scientific community. The 2024 edition has broadened its impact, 540 scientists from public and private entities, which on February 7 they will simultaneously offer talks to more than thirty thousand 6th grade students primary and 1st ESO from 451 educational centers throughout Catalonia, to creating an environment that encourages young minds to pursue their scientific aspirations.
