National projects tackle diverse energy-related challenges

  • Energy and environment

Four national R+D+I projects under the “retos investigación” call start this summer. The grant for these research projects include oriented investigations as well as their applications in later phases of technological development and experimentation. The granted projects are:

  • 3DPROGRESS addresses the development of advanced ceramic 3D printing technologies for a cost-effective and time efficient mass manufacturing customization of highly complex devices for energy conversion technologies.
  • CCU+OX will make progress on the development of new processes for CO2 capture and utilisation under an approach of sustainability and economic viability.
  • CELL2WIN will develop a new generation of cost efficient and robust (semi)transparent PV devices with tuneable optical properties in a wide range of visible transparency values.
  • COMBENERGY wil explore the combination of thermal energy with light and electricity, with an special focus on the use of solar radiation as heat and/or light sources.

The projects will last for 3 years from 2020 until 2022. They are aimed at solving one of the 8 great societal challenges described in the “Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica y Técnica y de Innovación” 2017-2020: clean, efficient and safe energy.

The project is cofinanced by  the European Union through the European Regional Development fund (ERDF) and with the support of Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (MICIU) and the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI).
