The Energy Hub concept: green local energy communities

  • Smart energy management

eNEURON is an H2020 funded project that stands for “greEN Energy hUbs for local integRated energy cOmmunities optimizatioN“. The kick-off meeting is held online on November the 17th, 2020.

The main goal of eNeuron is to develop innovative tools for the optimal design and operation of local energy communities (LECs) integrating distributed energy resources and multiple energy carriers at different scales. By promoting the Energy Hub concept as a conceptual model to control and manage multi-carrier and integrated energy systems, the project will propose instruments that promote tangible sustainability and energy security benefits for all stakeholders in LECs. The results will benefit local prosumers by reducing energy costs and promoting local low-carbon energy. It will also provide developers and solution providers with new opportunities for technologies and benefit distribution system operators.

The project has a total budget of >6M€ and will run for 4 years. The consortium is led by Enea where IREC is one of the 17 European partners involved. IREC key role in the project is to provide its knowledge, experience and expertise on energy management systems, modelling, control and implementation. These actions are led by Jose Luís Domínguez and Cristina Corchero.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 957779.
