The NETBUILD project kicks-off

  • Smart energy management

The companies Sensing&Control and Efimob, in collaboration with IREC, announce the launch of their joint project NETBUILD (Smartness Improvement in a Network of Buildings). The main objective is the design of technologies to improve the Smart Readiness Indicators of buildings, through greater energy efficiency, user comfort, and interaction with the electrical network.

During the NETBUILD project, current challenges related to energy transition and climate change are addressed by applying emerging technologies to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and promote energy exchange between them. The platform that will be designed in NETBUILD will allow the monitoring of the building’s water and energy consumption, as well as the occupancy, lighting, and air quality conditions, to guarantee user comfort by optimizing the consumption of resources.

The platform also includes artificial intelligence algorithms that will estimate the energy demand of buildings, as well as the generation obtained from renewable sources, to optimize the energy balance of buildings. In addition, an energy exchange system will be created, based on blockchain technology, which will allow prosumer buildings to sell their surplus energy to other nearby buildings, thus contributing to reducing the consumption of fossil fuels.
