The XRE4S interviews its Director and four energy experts from IREC

The R+D+I Network Energy for Society (XRE4S) a multidisciplinary and transversal ecosystem that gathers the expertise in the energy field of 14 universities and research centers in Catalonia, and it is coordinated by IREC.

The network has launched the #MeetTheExpert campaign to showcase the main expertise in the energy field of its 35 group members (map). The series includes an interview to the XRE4S Director, Manel Sanmartí, head of the Corporate Development & Knowledge and Technology Transfer Unit at IREC, and the IREC researchers participating in the network. We have gathered them in the following playlist.

Jaume Salom

Head of the ECOS research group

The ECOS research group works with Energy Efficiency in Systems, Buildings and Communities, and how to integrate renewable energy in our society. It involves 3 research groups at IREC: Thermal Energy and Building Performance, Power Systems and Energy Systems Analytics.

Alejandro Pérez-Rodríguez        

Head of the SEMS research group

The Solar Energy Materials and Systems group focuses on thin film photovoltaic technologies with flexible features to facilitate integration in buildings, products or the automobile sector.

Joan Ramon Morante   

Head of the Energy Storage, Harvesting and Catalysis group

This research group works with energy storage (both chemical and electrochemical storage), highly efficient batteries, CO2 conversion and green fuels.

Albert Tarancón               

Head of the Nanoionics and Fuel Cells group

This research group develops new materials and concepts for fuel cells and electrolysers for hydrogen technologies and microdevices for IoT for power generation.
