Jon Garí from IREC awarded the E-MRS Young Researcher Award
The European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) Young Researcher Awards (YRA) are intended to honour and encourage graduate students whose academic achievements and current materials research display a high level of excellence and distinction. E-MRS seeks to recognize students of exceptional ability who show promise for significant future achievement in materials research.
Jon Garí, a PhD student from the Solar Energy Materials and Systems department at IREC, was awarded a Young Researcher Award. His research focuses on the use of explainable artificial intelligence in the accelerated research of complex materials for photovoltaic devices. By integrating data from multiple characterization techniques, he aims to uncover correlations between physicochemical properties and device performance. This methodology was successfully applied as a case study within the European research project Platform-Zero, demonstrating its potential for advancing photovoltaic technology.
This award recognizes the outstanding oral presentation entitled “Explainable Artificial Intelligence driven methodology for accelerated research of complex technologies: Case study of thin films PV kesterite-based technology” presented in the frame of “Symposium S: Computations for materials – discovery, design and the role of data” at the E-MRS Spring Meeting 2025.
The award ceremony took place on 29 May at the Strasbourg Convention Centre in France. The award consists of a cash prize accompanied by a diploma. More information at: tps://www.european-mrs.com/meetings/2025-spring/young-researcher-awards
